Why a Floor Scrubber Leaves Streaks
Trace streaks to blade contamination, chemical residue, dirty solution, pad loading or floor damage.
Identify whether the streak is water, soil, residue or surface change. Clean and inspect the squeegee, verify dilution, refresh dirty solution, inspect the pad or brush, and test a corrected pass after the floor dries.
Follow the streak shape
A narrow repeating line points to a blade nick or trapped particle. Haze across the full path suggests chemistry, dirty solution or an inappropriate pad.
Curved trails that appear mainly at turns implicate speed or squeegee tracking. Photographing the dry result can make patterns easier to compare.
Reset the recovery components

If pickup is weak across the entire squeegee width, the cause may be airflow or setup rather than a single damaged spot on the blade.
Examine Turns, Speed and Solution Load
A scrubber can recover well on a straight pass yet leave water at tight turns. Turning too sharply or quickly may swing part of the squeegee outside the wet path or prevent the blade from tracking evenly. Slow the turn, maintain a deliberate overlap and observe whether the streak follows one side of the assembly. That pattern helps distinguish technique from a general vacuum problem.
Too much solution can also exceed what the machine recovers under current conditions. Verify the flow setting and avoid assuming that more water improves every soil problem. Excess foam in the recovery tank can interfere with operation and may come from the wrong detergent, excessive concentration or residue from a previous chemical. Use only the low-foam product and dilution allowed for the machine and floor.
Check the Floor and Escalate Carefully
Uneven floors, deep grout lines, thresholds and damaged finishes can break consistent squeegee contact. Inspect whether streaking occurs in one physical area or follows the machine everywhere. Oily residue can smear rather than lift if the chemistry, dwell approach or pad or brush is unsuitable, but any change must remain compatible with the floor and equipment.
After cleaning and correctly reinstalling accessible components, test a short blocked-off section. Do not bypass a float, guard or safety device or reach into a powered cleaning head. Persistent weak suction, unusual noise, leakage or electrical odor is a reason to secure the machine and arrange qualified service rather than continuing until the floor becomes a slip hazard.
A final control worth documenting
Record which side or part of the squeegee produced the trail and whether it changed during turns. That observation helps distinguish a localized blade defect from general airflow or chemistry problems. A short, documented test is safer and faster than changing several settings and losing the original clue.
